ACKWORTH RIGG LANE SE41NE (north side, off) 3/30 Stable, granary and – dovecote approx. 10 metres north of Ackworth Grange. GV II

Stable, granary and dovecote. C18. Coursed squared sandstone and handmade brown brick, slate roof. Rectangular plan. Three storeys, the topmost of brick; the west side has 3 doorways, the centre and right with rectangular lintels and the left with a segmental head, and a small window between the doorways to the right; 1st floor has 2 square openings with plain surrounds, the left flanked by slit breathers. The south gable wall has a blocked square window at 1st floor, a segmental-headed square window at 2nd floor, and stone gable coping with returned ends. Interior: some re-used beams from an earlier timber-framed building; pigeon loft lined with nest holes.
