House. Mid C18, with later addition to rear. Coursed squared sandstone, slate

roof. Single depth 3-unit plan. Three storeys over cellars, 3 bays, in Classical

style; sill bands at ground and 1st floors; symmetrical with strikingly elaborate

centre (for so small a house): 2 semi circular steps to a doorway with panelled

double doors, a Gibbs surround incorporated in a moulded architrave with

scrolled jambs and dentilled pediment, and, superimposed above this, a

Venetian and a Diocletian window, both with keystones and glazing bars; the

outer bays now have top-hung casements with glazing bars (imitating sashes),

all with raised plain surrounds, and the topmost windows square. A 3-pane

cellar window to the right of the doorway. (Later addition to rear is not of

special interest). Interior: central stone staircase between 2 principal rooms,

both of which have large spine beams, that on the left stop-chamfered and

carrying joists with similar decoration; in the right-hand room, a rectangular

stone fireplace and remains of a bread oven.
